Dental Burs are made from a variety of materials. The most common materials used in the production of Dental Burs are multifluted tungsten carbide, a diamond coated tip or a stainless steel multi fluted rosehead.
There are different types and classes of burs but the most commonly used are the round burs or the inverted cone. Burs are also further classified by the shank utilized. For example, a latch type or right angle bur is mainly used in the slow speed handpeice with a contra-angle attachment. A long shank also called shaft, is mainly used when the contra-angle is not in use. A friction grip bur is a smaller version of the above but is mainly used in the high speed bur.
